Reviews
This hotel is quite new and in very nice condition. The bed and pillows were very comfy, and the staff was friendly and helpful.
The only thing I didn't like about this hotel is that the blinds in the window are designed so that they can't be closed, which seemed very weird to me since I like it very dark when I sleep. Our room was on the back side of the hotel (not facing Mill Plain), so there fortunately wasn't much city or traffic light to flood in the window at least.
Our favorite part of the hotel was the pool! It's Very warm, which was a wonderful surprise - like, halfway between normal pool temperature and hot tub temperature 🙂 most hotel pools are too cold for me, but I was able to stay in this pool for well over an hour and felt comfortable the whole time.
Oh! The breakfast was delicious, with lots of items to choose from, and was included in the price! We love those make-them-yourselves waffle makers, fresh hot waffles in the morning are a wonderful way to start the day 🙂
This is a very nice hotel - comfortable, quiet and very clean. Being off the freeway (but not too far) is a big plus. The staff is welcoming and helpful and the breakfast better than average. Although rather expensive, it's a welcome change from the average chain hotel. Definitely recommended if you're traveling through the area.
I have been to many Hampton Inn & Suites but this particular one is outstanding! What makes it so is their staff. The people who work here care about exceptional hospitality and it was awesome to see this. The staff created me warmly upon checking in and within an 1 hour of checking in, they texted me to make sure that my room was okay. Also during my stay, I had to schedule the shuttle for a 4:30am airport drop-off and they accommodated me on this as well. (They even had breakfast to go for some folks at that hour-wow!) (I would've had some breakfast but I'm allergic to wheat and dairy.)
The hotel is located in a nice spot. It is close to restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, etc. It is also about 10 minutes away from the Oregon (PDX) airport and Fort Vancouver National Park. The hotel was in a quiet spot and there were no issues with noise from guests or the busy street that was near.
The breakfast in the morning had a full spread which included: eggs, sausage, french toast, oatmeal, and fruit, plus they had almond milk (which is a huge plus for me being dairy free.)
The rooms were very nice and clearly updated recently or renovated. They also included daily housekeeping if you were interested (rare these days!)
The pool and sauna were nice as well, only downside was that the indoor pool had specks floating in it- I believe that sides of the pool were coming off, but it did not deter me from swimming. :-)
There is a reason that this hotel keeps getting 5 star reviews and it is their staff. They are great at their job and awesome at keeping the hospitality alive in Portland/Vancouver area. Thank you everyone, your hard work did not go unnoticed!
Front desk lady that gave me her name (Holly) was extremely rude and unprofessional. I am from out of state and had made a reservation on Christmas Eve to stay there. When I arrived, they said my card did not authorize the reservation. I called my bank but because this was a Sunday and Christmas Eve, I was unable to resolve the issue with my card. I left explaining I would return to check in when I resolved the issue.
I returned a few hours later, (My brother who lives in town) booked a second reservation for me using HIS credit card and he gave me his card so that I could use it for this emergency to check in. When Holly learned this was my brother's card, she alluded that me using my brother's card was ILLEGAL and was a crime. I told her my brother booked the reservation using his card and she could reach him by calling him to confirm he had made the reservation for me, she was reluctant to speak with him but did briefly. My brother told Holly that he had booked my reservation and would authorize the charges. Holly told him he could be anybody and she has no way of knowing whether or not the person she was talking to on the phone was him or not, and he may have to come to the hotel in person to show his ID. Holly told my brother it was against policy to allow me to use his card. My brother asked her to send him a copy of the hotel policy and she refused. She handed me the phone and she overheard me telling my brother, I was going to find another hotel to stay at due to the way I was being treated by Holly. Holly then told me she was cancelling my reservation and told me "Leave my hotel" I left, and she told me she was putting me on the "do not rent" list.
I travel for business and stay in hotels frequently. I have since spoken to other hotel managers afterwards and told them how I was treated. They said they only put people on "do not rent lists" for damaging rooms or owing money. NOT because of a disagreement. They also said all Holly would have needed to do if she didn't feel right was to send over a credit authorization to my brother that had booked the reservation OR call him at his number listed on the reservation. I have NEVER been Treated like this in my life. I have NEVER had any problems with hotels in my life until this one. I have hotel managers that have offered to give me glowing recommendations as a customer at their hotels if necessary. So as of 12.29.23 (five days later, I have rented at two different hotels with ZERO issues.
To make things worse, the General Manager at this hotel (Nick) promised to reach out to my by Thursday 12.28.23 and has not done so to take my complaint against Holly, she here we ARE me leaving an honest review of the way me and my sixteen year old son were treated by Holly.
My son had his ACT test in Camas, so we arrived the day before so he can sleep well. Well it didn't happen. All of us got woken up at 3am thanks to a noisy and rowdy group of people next door. Called front desk twice, and finally the hotel managed to remove them. By then 1 hour had passed and we were all wild awake. My son tossed and turned for the rest of the "night" and was drowsy and sleepy coming into the test.
The hotel responded by the book and they can't control what customers come into their facility. I don't necessarily blame them for that, but wish they could've responded much quicker.
The hotel has full breakfast, very nice!
Room 308 8-7-23 to 8-8-23
1. Bathroom tub/shower has mold growing inside and shower head has deposits causing jets to become clogged
2. Bathroom ceiling is peeling paint above shower and wall paper is peeling from the walls.
3. Mini fridge within room didn’t work/get to temp - nothing like warm leftovers - cheesecake from dinner….
4. Free breakfast, not bad but when the fruit is rotting/flies living inside the fruit “banana” and set out for customers to consume…. Excuse given… “we didn’t get our shipment in yet…”.
So, that’s gives them permission to serve rotting food…?
Pool/hot tub was decent temps, hot tub had tons of soap and lotion residue due to people not rinsing off before getting inside. Lots of suds… a water change or keeping up with the proper chemicals would help.
Maintenance is lacking with the small details from caulking done right, to general repair's….
Not a Hampton Inn, but a Motel 6 should be its name…..
Warm, Friendly Environment. Quiet, very comfortable rooms. The complimentary breakfast was very good, with a nice assortment of pastries, yogurt, eggs, waffles and lots of fresh fruit.
Decent rooms, easy to find, close to food and the highway. Friendly staff. Parking was ok. Clean place and the grounds seemed well maintained.
